Do you ever find yourself feeling overwhelmed with everything that is circling around you? Like the thoughts won’t stop and you find yourself second guessing everything? Are you like me who overthinks mostly everything?? I think about my situation and how it affects me, how it affects those around me, I think about what possible outcomes could come from one single decision and before I know it…I’m stuck and stressed.
A lot of people struggle with anxiety and get to a place where they become emotionally distraught and almost paralyzed from the feeling of being overwhelmed.
I have a very simple solution to both of our problems, journaling. Yes, just like we used to in 8th grade when we’d write about our crushes and the latest Jr High drama, it helped us express ourselves back then…it can help save us now. Try writing out all the things that you need to make decisions on. Write out what is causing you stress and worry, then go back and look at each item carefully. Take the time to find ways to eliminate or improve what is causing you stress. Take small steps, find simple solutions to these matters and you’ll feel a weight come off of your shoulders!
The medical professionals at Well-Being Trust say that journaling can help you clear your head, make important decisions between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, and even buffer or reduce the effects of mental illness!
Try it…you’ll feel better for it! There are great apps for journaling if you are more technical than traditional when it comes to writing out your thoughts. Headspace is a very popular app for the tech savvy.
